Someone once said that there is nothing new under the sun....well while not strictly true many of the things we use every day were "imagineered" decades ago. It's just that we now have arguably better ways of achieving what the early pioneers tried to do, making things more reliable and affordable. So as we rush headlong into the future..... it's worth looking back to those early days and learn what we can.

Internet of Things

Internet of Things (IoT) is a game changing technology that allows you to create affordable, bespoke, remote monitor and control systems. As it name suggests it uses the Internet to provide the connection enabling you to operate from anywhere in the world with an Internet connection and receive Text alerts to advise of changes in system status .

Example Application

There has been much interest in hydroponic and particularly "vertical" farming, which offers great improvement in resource requirements, in particular water usage and footprint. However, the substitution of nature (i.e. soil) with "tech" makes the plants very vulnerable to system faults. A full time Remote Control and Monitoring System (RCMS) is essential to reduce costly failures. IoT provides a solution with full time remote monitoring and control including text alerts to developing problems.

We have successfully developed a demonstrator system which has provided reliable service over the last 3 years.

"Soil-Less" growing offers a genuine option to reduce food miles and reach "carbon neutral" or even "negative". Vertical barrels and Dutch Buckets, coupled with an IoT Enabled Remote Control and Monitoring System from Past Sounds Ltd will allow homes, restaurants and even communities to grow fresh, nutritious food right on their doorstep, for themselves.
